clients in finding a qualified professional who will meet their needs.
2. How does 1-800-THERAPIST reach the

many types of media. We have networked with many community service
organizations including hospitals, employee assistance programs, hotlines
and many others. We have become known as a valuable resource for doctors,
lawyers, clergy, mental health professionals and a variety of other
professional groups. In addition, we are well known on the Internet
and receive many referrals as a result.
3. How effective is 1-800-THERAPIST?
Our mental health resource counselors
answer hundreds of calls a month to assist people in finding the right
professional. It is not uncommon for us to refer over 50 clients per
member annually.
4. Do the callers pay a fee for the
referral service?
No. No fees are charged, nor do we
negotiate your fees with the potential client.
5. How do I know this will work for
me financially?
The best way we can address that
concern is to advise you that 90% of our current members around North
America, (comprised of
psychiatrists, psychologists, MFCC's, licensed social workers and
psychiatric nurses) renew their membership annually. (This can create
waiting lists for those who qualify, but were not the first to be accepted
in an area.) These members would not renew if they didn't find
1-800-THERAPIST to be beneficial financially and professionally. The most
common reason for non-renewal, is a full patient load due to the success
of previous 1-800-THERAPIST referrals.
6. Do I pay any additional fees when
I receive a referral?
No. Your annual fee entitles you to
referrals for that calendar year unless your membership is withdrawn for
unethical practice etc.
7. What are the requirements to join?
The application process includes signing a declaration stating that you have
no pending professional or legal complaints, providing
evidence
of a valid license & current malpractice insurance, and a personal interview (other requirements
will be discussed when you receive your application).
During this process, you must describe your background and
experience and include 2 letters of
recommendation from professionals who know your work. You must also agree to a background check with your
licensing body. If the above is approved, an interview will
be scheduled to complete the process. If your application is rejected, the
entire membership fee will be returned.

utilized?
The annual fee is used to
defray advertising, administration, evaluation, personnel and the
operational costs of maintaining 1-800-THERAPIST. The fee amount is noted

A pyramid scheme is an illegal scheme to make money off

them nothing in return. It is designed so that the people at the top make money
and the people at the bottom get nothing. As the levels of membership grow
deeper, the members at the top make more money. When no one at the bottom is
left to
sign up, those people end up losing their membership money. A
distinctive sign of a Pyramid Scheme is that nothing exchanged is of
value.

international and the local level. This is just like any other organization
such as the APA and their local state chapters. The local
